Belonging to No 439 RCAF. Crashed on 18th March 1944 while in transit from RAF Ayr to RAF Hurn. The Hurricane was seen 7 minutes into the flight flying at 3300ft between two banks of cloud when it nosed over and dived vertically down. No official cause of the crash was ever determined.*
